LOCAL MISSION...GLOBAL VISION! The "191" is a unified organization of musicians and other music business professionals working together to revive the local indie music and art scene that was once epic here in the Philadelphia metro area, specifically urban center city. Our goal is to unite musician with business to pull in the public interest, generating stimulus enough to make gainful income at doing our craft professionally, full time, regain LOCAL control over our venues from the national mega-corps, and to pull out of the wretched tribute band draw, pay to play rut which is the current fuel in in our anemic economy. We fight for the "STAY TO PLAY" philosophy...all stay till the last artist plays out of respect, relatively. We are equally as dedicated to arts education - putting back what was amputated by the standards movement that has raped our education system of independent, creative, critical thought. 191TV CURRENTLY FEATURES THE FOLLWING SHOWS: 191LIVE! (Sundays, 6-8pm LIVE EDT), WRX N PROGRESS (2nd Sundays, LIVE SHow, HIP HOP, Freestyle), METRO 260 LIVE! Shwcase, Wednesdays 8 pm & Synd., The SHADOWPLAY ROCK nROLL Show (Mondays, 8 pm starting October).
We are all volunteers. Barter is allowed.
We have three primary rules we do not sway:
1. All ORIGINAL art 2. Locally-based (Wilmington-NYC: Phila Metro) 3. Positivity rules - haters, doubters, otherwise negative energy is extinguished
Negativity is the root cause of the problem. Kills the creative spirit and divides us.
We may all be momentarily broke, but we have a fucken riot of a brau time...all genres welcome.
