Something You Should Know About Me
Alberto Monnar (July 6, 1992) born in Miami, of Cuban descent, is a 19 year old classical, jazz, and pop composer, saxophonist, trumpeteer, percussionist, pianist, singer, and bassist. Alberto is what you may call an auto-didactic musician. This means that he has had no professional tutoring of any kind, and he teaches himself. Alberto has recorded with artists like Martita Roca, Angel Lucena, Ana Martinez, Vicente Rey, Ley Alejandro, Alex Leon, Salvatore Manalo, Mel Plant, and Victor Concepcion. Alberto has been deeply interested in music since his childhood. Alberto would be able to identify notes, chords, and songs by hearing them once or twice, not looking at a piano, and would repeat it over. This would be the beginning of how he would find out that music was his strong point. Before being interested in music, he would be interested in show hosting, television production, and being a news reporter. He started playing the piano when he was 6, and at 8, did his first public performance at an elementary school for a birthday party. At age 12, he has been interested in the saxophone, and wanted to learn how to play it. He then heard of Kenny G, Charlie Parker, Walter Beasley, and John Coltrane. His interest grew and grew as the years passed. He has played as a soloist in the Middle School Jazz Band. He was also part of the High School Marching Band. At the age of 14, he wanted to become a solo act. He first started appearing on TV, at the age of 15. He performed at "Cada Dia" playing trumpet for Alex Leon on Telemundo. Then, he played on "El Show de Fernando Hidalgo" on America Teve doing a solo act. He also participated in a television contest called "Minuto de Fama Total" on AmericaTeve. He has also performed publicly at the Marina Stage at Bayside. There, the audience of Florida was a witness to his talent. He has also been at a talent competition called "Coffeehouse" at MLEC where he won 1st place. Alberto has also been known as a show producer, since he has produced his first show for his high school called "Remembering The Class of 2010 In Concert", which was a concert commemorating the graduating Senior Class of 2010. It involved seniors who would sing, and dance as a tribute to the years they have been in high school. Now, he is currently enrolled at New World School of the Arts in Downtown Miami where he is studying for his Bachelor's Degree in Composition. Today, he still continues to expose everything he knows about music to the world.
