Yoga for Computer Users
Join Ananda Leeke, a registered yoga teacher, Reiki Master practitioner, and founder of kg yoga life practices (http://kgyoga.blogspot.com), for a kind and gentle yoga class for computer users. Biography
Ananda Leeke (http://www.anandaleeke.com), a lawyer turned “innerpreneur” and social capitalist, is President and CEO of Kiamsha.com, LLC, a company that in-powers and empowers individuals through creativity, coaching, contemplative practices (i.e. yoga, Reiki healing touch, meditation, breathing exercises, journaling, affirmations, and prayer), and community building that awaken the human soul and transform everyday living. Leeke is currently completing her book, That Which Awakens Me: A Creative Woman’s Poetic Memoir of Self-Discovery (iUniverse, Inc – September 2009). Her debut novel, Love’s Troubadours – Karma: Book One (www.lovestroubadours.com) was published in 2007. Leeke’s poetry appeared in Beyond the Frontier: African American Poetry for the 21st Century edited by E. Ethelbert Miller. She also published several books of poetry and women’s creativity workbooks that are used in her workshops and creativity coaching practice. They include My Soul Speaks (1992), I am my sistas keeper (1994), Baby I got it bad for you blues (1995), Feminist Soul (2000), Monday Morning Meditations (2000), Be Fearless and Choose Love (2000), Blessed is the fruit of thy womb (2001), La Bohemienne (2001), and Our Womanist Spirit (2002). Leeke is a graduate of Morgan State University (B.A. in French, 1986), Howard University School of Law (J.D., 1989), and Georgetown University Law Center (LL.M. in Securities and Financial Regulation, 1991). Her memberships include the National League of American Pen Women, Yoga Alliance, Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington’s Business Volunteer Program, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., All Souls Unitarian Church, and Insight Meditation Community of Washington’s People of Color Sangha. On September 19, I celebrated National Yoga Month with the launch of my first class in the Kind and Gentle Yoga for Computer Users series. The class was 15 minutes and provided basic tips on pranayama (breathing exercises), eye yoga, keyboard yoga, mudras (hand movements), mouth yoga, meditation, and yoga poses for the neck, shoulders, spine, and hips. On October 6 from 6:45 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. EST, I invite you to participate in Pink October Yoga, a series of online yoga classes that honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the breast cancer journey of my grandmothers Frederica Stanley Roberts Leeke and Dorothy Mae Johnson Gartin. The classes will also be offered on the following Tuesday evenings from 8:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. EST: October 13, 20, and 27. I will share yoga tips and demonstrate yoga poses that promote awareness, balance, and calm in the body.
