The Atheist Network has been around for more then 7 years. Originally created by Jake ( www.afterfaith.com ) and The Infidel guy ( www.infidelguy.com ) it has a large, tight knit, thriving atheist community, that never plays soft, and never apologizes for it. The Atheist Network was created with the idea that only through HONEST exchange of ideas and information, can we all break free of theistic influences. It's not a bashing board, and it's not a brainiac board, it's a community of atheists as diverse as you can find. We welcome all atheists to come and join the fun.
I could write you a big advertisement about the Atheist Network, but instead, I'll let the people there tell you what THEY think of it....
" I like the fact that any idea can become the springboard for discussions that challenge assumptions all around. I like the fact that you can challenge anyone on anything, and that anything one says can be challenged as well. I like the fact that one day you can be in a throw-down drag-out argument with someone one day and then be on the same side of an argument the very next day. " ... Robis 8548 posts.
" I like how nothing, and I mean nothing, is taboo here. No matter what topic you bring up, nobody will ever think any less of you for it. I've never seen anything comparable anywhere else. And, this place is a nice outlet for me. Sometimes, when things in real life are too much to handle, it's nice to participate in a discussion with people who both can't hurt you and wouldn't if they could." .... Logican 1229 posts.
" I love how I can come here and talk with people that think similar to me, its so hard find people like me here in Georgia. I love the free exchange of thoughts and ideas and how here I am free (for the most part) from the constant harassment's of the theists." ..... Xbox Atheist 1382 posts.
" I remember shortly before I joined, someone made a comment and it started a long debate on a touchy subject. I had considered the subject before but have never heard anyone else's thoughts on it. Most people would have had an immediate reaction of disgust and drop it. Even a few AN members couldn't take it and left. (although I think one returned after reconsidering the arguments.) The point is this, the people here will discuss any idea without accepting or rejecting it a priori. Everything is scrutinized and judged based on it's own qualities. Also, I like BBSs rather than chat rooms. It fits with schedules better, anyone can read the past posts and be as up to date as everyone else, and there is time to think and research between post and reply." ..... Cthulhu's Quill 112 posts
" The most corny, cliché and overused reasons of all time... Coming here makes me realize I'm not alone, I'm not so strange, I fit in here. I grew up and still live here in the bible belt of Midwest United States. Being an atheist in the bible belt can make one feel pretty isolated. This is my happy place to come when my surroundings seem unbearable. This is the only place that I can consistently enjoy conversations with people who seem sane to me. It is refreshing and reassuring.

"Religion is an insult to human dignity. Without it, you'd have good people doing good things and bad people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion...s a great source for cool stuff found around the internet, and a place to have interesting discussions. And you get a muffin! " ....Mutant cat 104 posts." For years I went back and forth believing in xianity, never ready to accept who I really was. Talking to people here made me realize it is ok. It comforted me to know that atheists are real people, that there is a place where questioning religion isn't forbidden. In due course I have not only accepted myself with everyone's help, but gained a better understanding of why I am an atheist. When confronting myself with reasons of doubt I can honestly answer them without hesitation. And when others confront me, criticize me or try to convert me, I can give logical arguments without the worry of burning in hell. This place and the people in it give me continual support and courage to face the world as an atheist. I appreciate it. I am a happier person because of all of you. " ...... mmccaskill 663 posts
