About Me
I am a Christian, and I am doing my best to daily figure out God's will for my life and what it means to be a follower of Christ. I am a senior in high school and am currently attending Pikes Peak Christian School. Although I have gone to LP and PPCS, I still think that I'm a homeschooler at heart and always will be. I am one semester away from graduating school, and I must say that it hasn't come soon enough. Even though people assume it, I am not an angry person. I just have a hard time smiling and laughing at stuff that isn't funny or nice. What can I say, my 'fake' smile is really ugly and dumb. I love my family and my best friend in the entire world is my sister Hannah (aka Flapjack). I am college bound and am probably going to attend UCCS. I am really excited about going and plan on majoring in marketing. As of right now, my main life plan is to graduate college and do some long term missions in Guatemala, Australia, China, USA, and wherever else God leads me.
I am Here for:
Well, actually, I guess I'm here because this is one more site that will give me an excuse to procrastinate.

Hobbies:
I like to read - alot- and hang out with friends. I don't really like school, because I think its way too slow, and I would like to spend my time doing something a bit more productive but whatever. I am however excited about college. The stuff I do when I'm bored is to either laugh (at or with) Hannah, or just watch TV.

Favorite Movies:
Wow, where to even begin! Well, because it pretty much made our friendship the most hillarious one ever (Stacey), I'd have to say Dirty Dancing. But I would also like to put in that I am totally comitted to Save the Last Dance, 10 Things I Hate About You, and all of the X-Men saga. I can think of so many other films that have truly captured my focus such as Oceans 11, Shaw Shank Redemption, A Patch of Blue (if any guy ever actually knows this movie, I would marry him on the spot), Steel Magnolias, Kate and Leopold, The Italian Job. Sweeney Todd, P.S. I Love you, August Rush, Dan in Real Life. THE NOTEBOOK!!!!

Favorite TV Shows:
Not a shock to anyone who knows me; Gilmore Girls. What can I say, its funny, dramatic, and serious all at the same time. Not to mention all of the guys are completely hot! 24 also rocks the list as does Lost, The Office, Heros (woot for Milo V.), and The Colbert Report.

Favorite Music:
Juno sound track. Which pretty much translates to a lot of indie alternative type stuff. I have also grown up with most of the "oldies" i.e.; the Beatles, The Monkeys, Banarama, The Kinks, the Rolling Stones, and many others. I also really do love hip-hop, the newer top 40 stuff is okay, but I prefer the more old school style, or underground stuff. Overall though, I'd say that I'm eclectic when it comes to music.

Favorite Books:
Mandy! It is my all time favorite book. Its really aimed more towards younger girls, but when I read it in the 7th grade I completely fell in love with it. One year for Christmas, my parents got me the hardcover edition and I started to cry. The Metamorphosis, A Brave New World, and Red Scarf Girl are some of my favorite classics. I also like alot of the Lori Wick novels and Redeeming Love. I mostly read girly romances, but I do enjoy a book that has a little more thought process to it too.

I Love:
Driving around aimlessly with my friends, discussing politics/religion, going to Starbucks and talking for hours about life with my besties!

I Hate:
People who waste my time; crappy drivers; idiot people who take advantage of me, my family or friends.

Well, that's an imbedded question, but I'll answer to the best of my ability. I think Orwell's point was rather plainly laid out in the conversation between Winston and O'Henry (I think that was his name). In any event, the guy with the Irish name said that the reason the party went through such trouble to keep power is that they wanted power. They didn't find anything morally superior, or necessary about the concept of a governing body. They wanted its existence so that they could rule. As far as a distraction from life, I think you might want to look at Huxley's Brave New World for that discussion.

Well, I would love to give you my thoughts, provided you narrow the scope of your question. I think it's rather atypical from the rest of the dystopian novels of that time period in that it preaches the downfall of liberal society, not conservative. I think it's deceivingly mute on the question as to whether literature is actually good for society. I think Orwell has a better plan for how perpetual governments would probably run... I could go on for a while, but I'd prefer a narrower question.
