I believe that precisely nothing happens for a reason. There are causes, but things do not happen because of reasons. We invent the reasons afterwards in order to feel better about what has occurred.

I believe that nothing lasts forever.

I do not believe in "sin" or "evil." I do not believe in "free will." I believe that true "guilt" was invented so that others can be blamed, punished, and controlled. It is true that people do horrible things, and I do not condone being horrible. But technically speaking, I believe that we all behave in our own self-interest. If we do something nice for others, it is simply because we want to. I do not believe that anyone has an obligation (or even the ability) to behave otherwise. Some people need to be placed in jail for the good of others, but only because we do yet not have the ability to fully understand and help them.

Virtue is the mean between two extremes.

There are many things that are ugly but true, and just as many that are beautiful yet false.

I think that we all desire both self-esteem and the esteem of others, but to extremely different extents depending on our personalities.

I believe that everything of value acquires its worth through our own determination. Nothing is worth anything in of itself. Individual minds have the ability to create destroy and modify value. In a word, opinions possess great significance while facts are empty.

I believe that we are individuals first and only community members coincidentally. Our first loyalty is to ourselves. It is important to be authentic, and to achieve our potential. Needless to say, extreme selfishness can be narrowminded.

I believe in love, but I believe that it is just another human emotion-state. It is wonderful, but it is not magical; it is not perfect, eternal, or immune to corruption. If love dies that does not mean it was not legitimate. There is no "true" (vs. "untrue"?) love - there is only plain and simple love. Love is not a dirty word or a key word. It is not complicated, and not all examples of love are exactly the same or exactly as strong. If you have legitimate strong feelings for someone, then you love.
