Something You Should Know About Me

HOSTS

The host of the 40andup room purpose is to create the chat room if the previous chat room becomes locked or if it was abandoned and unavailable. The name of the room will be called 40's and Up. Hosts are responsible to promote a friendly atmosphere free from hostility and to appoint moderators.

The hosts of the room agree to the following conditions:

  • They are not to use their host power to reprimand, openly humiliate, or embarrass any user.

  • Hosts are responsible to act for the good of the 40's and Up room and are not allowed to use their power as host to take personal actions for or against any user.

  • Host are not to use their host power to dictate rules that are outside of this document or are not generally agreed upon by the room.

Any host who violates these conditions is subject to have their host status revoked. All hosts must reply to a user in a friendly manner in hope to resolve the issue.

Hosts are not invisible

All hosts who enter a room will identify themselves as who they are by changing the stream name to their name before entering the room. (The host account name is ‘companion40up’)

MODERATORS

A host will appoint moderate status to users for a variety of reasons. To be a moderator you must be in the host friend list. The host is using the friend list to manage who has agreed to the moderator. To get on the host friend list you need to request to be added as a friend. The Host will ask you in return if you abide by the conditions set forth here. If you do, you will be added as a friend and you will be given moderator status. Any moderator that violates these conditions will have their moderator status removed. The host who removes a moderator status from a user will send an email to the current hosts of the room describing why a user should not be given moderator status. If the current hosts agree to revoke a user a moderator position, they will send the user an email describing the violation and they will be removed from the friend list. If the violator wishes to have their moderator status restored, they are asked to send the hosts a friend request again.

ROOM RULES

All Host, moderators, and users must abide by Stickam Universal Terms of Service and abide by Stickam Chat Rules. You can find the Universal Terms of Service by clicking “Legal Terms” found in the banner at the bottom of many Stickam pages. You can find Stickam Chat Rules by clicking on the FAQ option under the Help tab at the top of many Stickam pages. From there select the Stickam Group Chat topic. You will find a link to Chat room rules in that topic. I have also included the Stickam Chat room rules below.
Although it is a common practice to excuse foul language in other rooms, we wish to promote a friendly environment for all users and ask that you reframe from such chat.

KICK

Moderators and Hosts are asked to discuss violations of the rules in private with the user. They are not to be discussed in the room.

AGE

Many users who are drawn to the 40andup room are drawn to the room because they wish to associate with others who are 40 and up. Should a user who is under 40 be kicked? No. If a user under 40 enters the room, if you do not wish to have a chat with that user you can ignore that user. Often younger users get bored and move on. The vast majority of Stickam users are under 40. Often those under 40 will enter the room to harass and make fun of those in the room. Their intentions are clearly seen as that. We ask that the host and moderators be polite, and be polite to kick them out quickly.

IGNORE

We need to stress that some users may not enjoy or tolerate another user in the room. They are asked to use the ignore option.

DO YOU WANT TO BE A HOST?

The current hosts of the room choose hosts of the room. If you wish to be chosen, please send the host an email. Host must abide by all rules. We ask that hosts change hands periodically. No hosts are invisible. They are known to the room and they will identify who they are when they enter the room as hosts. If you do not agree with that, you cannot be a host. In addition, if a user has an issue with a host, they should discuss that issue with the host and not the user who is or was acting as host. This is so that all hosts are aware of other host activity so that no host will become outside of the room scope. When a new host is accepted, or a host asks to leave as host, the password to the host account will be changed and all current hosts will be notified of the new password.
