Dixie Dog Ink is a non-profit, local promotion company that is run/based out of Tivoli NY. The promotion company was founded by Emily Staffiero in the summer of 2006. The company was formed out of one girl’s love for music and the inspiration of an older brother who was in a band. Dixie Dog Ink has helped a few bands on their way to success and promoted many others. Dixie Dog Ink has grown through out its two years of running. I use the internet, myspace, Facebook, and local shows for promotion, making flyers, business cards, booking /promoting shows, and helping as many bands as possible. Dixie Dog Ink has put together many successful rock shows. Most of these have been to support the Red Hook High School SADD Chapter. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) All of these shows have raised over $1,500. Dixie Dog Ink has booked many different bands from Southcott to I Am the Pilot and Within The Ruins. The shows I do are all different genres of music going from metal hardcore to solo acoustic and everything in between. I try to do as many shows as possible to keep the local music scene going. I work with a variety of different bands. When I’m not putting on shows I’m helping the bands I work with book shows. Or I’m making flyers and promoting shows they already have. I try to get as many kids as I can to come out to all the local shows. Dixie Dog Ink promotion does their best to help bands promote themselves and get their band’s name out there. When I go to a show that one of my Dixie Dog Ink bands is playing, I pass out business cards to the crowd as a reminder not to forget them. Also, so kids can look the band up online to listen to them and see when the next show is. Not only do I hand out business cards but I also take as many pictures as I can for the bands to use later for whatever they may need. Not only do I own/run my own promoting company, I’m also affiliated with Victory Records which is based in Chicago, IL. I’m part of the Victory Records Street Team. I help promote Victory Records and the bands on the label. I go to shows to pass out sampler CDs and posters that Victory Records has sent me in order to help promote. I also do a lot of promoting on the web and around town. I do my best to inform kids about the label, new CD releases, merchandise and all the amazing bands that are signed with Victory. I love music and I work very hard to keep the local music scene going! Even though I don’t make a profit on Dixie Dog Ink, I love contributing to the local music scene, seeing bands develop, and making new friends.
