DJ Dela Born and raised in Chicago's formerly own Stateway Gardens and Robert Taylor Homes is where she began her passion for music. Growing up under a talented family of artists and musicians, she inherited her passion to become a DJ. Her love for all genre of music inspired her to become the DJ she is today. It started with her personal collection of reecords and from hand-me-downs given by her father and uncle ( Chicago's DJ Reg Mcclain). Both are record collectors and is a big influence in Dela's life. Not quite at the level of Dj Reg Mcclain, Dela was able to mimic his skill of technique and ear for music. He taught her how to achieve the highest level of respect as a female DJ and to be persistent at what she does. At the age of twelve is when Dela's passion of becoming a DJ began. Dela and her cousin (Dj P-Diddy), who was also inspired to become a D, formed their own DJ club, Member's Only. Member's Only consisted of local teenager DJs in the projects. Being the only female in the club, Member's Only gave Dela her DJ gig at some of the local parties in the neighborhood. Member's Only not only enhanced Dela's talent of djing, it also gave her the confidence to become one of the most influential talented female DJs' in Chicago. From there she continued her skills djing local parties outside the neighborhood and climbed her way up to holding residency at some of Chicago's local venues. 2000: The Underground @ The Hidden Lounge, 651 W. Washington, Dela, Dj Reg and Walter Stallworth, every Wednesdays 2000-2001: Level 4 Entertainment @ Club Aqua, 820 W. Lake, Dela, Vince Adams and DJ Spin, every Fridays 2002-2003: Urban Life Productions @ The New Comfort Zone, 19730 S. Torrence, Dela and Shaun T, every Fridays Dela also did guest spots for local lounges and productions: Monk's Pub @ 205-07 W. Lake Street, promotor Shaun T and Dj Phatmike Just For The Hangout Production @ The New Celebrity, 2020 E. 83rd Street, Promotor Vee and DJ Reg, Brian Sayles December 2007, winner of a two month DJ Battle of the DJs @ The New Celebrity February 2008, Guest DJ for The 5 Magazine Release Party With all the experience taken in, Dela now has what it takes to show her talent and to be able to play different genre of music and to play for different atmosphere of people. Her love for music and her talents have inspired other females to become and make their turfs in the DJ world.
