FAT BEAT HIP HOP RADIO SHOW

Croatian Radio Karlovac started airing „Fat Beat” in 2002 which is still the only radio show in town to promote hip hop culture and music.
After a few attempts Frantz succeeded in starting the first hip hop show in Karlovac in March 2002. Independent joined in on March 29th. The show had been aired every Friday from 8 to 9.30 PM. A couple of months later the show got rescheduled to Wednesdays from 10 to 12 PM, but that has recently changed too and now the show is being aired Wednesdays 9-11 PM.
After a few show host changes, today’s hosts remain Frantz, Independent, Mean 25 and Stac. After 5 years of dedicated work, the “Fat Beat” radio show has become very popular among youth due to fun hosts and great music.
The show is responsible for great parties and concerts (Delinquent Habits, Arcane, Tram 11, Stoka, Connect, Doppler Efekt, Djecaci, One II Many, Diyala, Sett, 3ki Stil, Kandzija, etc.) which brought them acclaims through the whole country. The show hosted Croatia’s most prominent hip hop artists and has done a number of interviews with Croatian and sometimes American artists such as Delinquent Habits, Ill Bill (La Coka Nostra/ex Non Phixion), Q-Unique (ex Arsonists, Rocksteady Crew), DJ Dice (ex Das Efx/Redman), Doujah Raze i Arcane. Alongside these famous names, “Fat Beat” has tried to help less known artists as well.
“Fat Beat” introduced the city of Karlovac to the country’s hip hop scene. Since last year, the show has been aired on a stronger radio frequency (90.1 MHz) and now people from Zagreb, Sisak and other surrounding towns can tune in.
Celebrating 5 years of successful airing, Frantz & Stac decided to do two big festivals which took place on March 30th and May 25th with a lot of Croatian and a couple of foreign artists (USA) on the bill. Further, “Fat Beat” mixtape vol. 1 was recently released with a lot of Croatian and foreign MCs. We thank all those who have supported us for the past 5 years and for those who have not yet listened to us, please check the show on Wednesdays at 9 PM on 90.1 MHz or on Stickam.com on Fridays in the evening.
