Hey Guys...

My name is Derek and I am a front desk agent at a 5-Diamond Resort in Las Vegas, NV. I’m originally from Cedar Rapids, IA, but I had to get out of the Midwest and pursue my life elsewhere.

Nationality pride is extremely important to me. Just ask my friends. HAHA! I’m half German and half English. After studying my own roots, I became very interested in other cultures. I believe cultural backgrounds are great tools in really getting to know another individual. Be proud of who you are because pride goes a long way! I speak German, and I’m in the process of learning Spanish.

Languages are important to me, and I think everyone should know at least one other one. Try it before you give up on it. It’s opened up my world to so many more individuals and actually has helped me get positions over another applicant. I love how you can know a few phrases in another language and be connected to so many more people in the world. It’s amazing.

I’m huge on goal-setting, and never giving up. There is always something more to learn and excel on in your life. I don’t settle for summiting my dreams and rarely give up on something. Confidence and goal-setting are two very attractive attributes to me. Have goals and I’ll try to help you see them through...
