The story of Highbryd begins back in the autumn of 2004. The band was 2 seperate projects that happened to jam over the same roof. After a month of standstill practices James left his project and joined Vince, Bobby, and Dan, then began learning Linkin Park and Slipknot covers. The lineup was also upped when Martin joined to have a 2 bass attack. The line-up consisted of James and Phil on guitar, with the addition of Alex Chara on a 3rd guitar, Martin and Vince on bass, Bobby on drums, Dan on keyboards and Nick Kelly on vocals. The line-up held for 3 garage shows until Martin quit along with Phil and Alex leaving Highbryd with one guitarist, James. After a final goodbye show to said members, the band took a 2 month break from the breakups and confusion and said goodbye to learning covers. At the end of the summer of 2005, the band relocated at Vince's basement to begin writing their own material. Due to a lack of a second guitarist, Dan took lead guitar and left the full rhythym talents of James to unfold. The lineup then consisted of James, Vince, Dan, Bobby, and Nick. After writing 3 original songs and perfecting 4 covers, Highbryd played their first invotational called the "Arise From The Grave" Concert. This show was Dan's first show as lead guitarist for the band, which gave the audience a bit of a surprise. With the show behind them, the arrival of the Myspace account expanded their music to all the Chicago-land area and beyond. Shortly after the creation of the myspace page, Nick was replaced by Scott Kolstermann. During the summer of 2006, Highbryd was signed to a local studio called Zero Studios with manager Vinny Ippolito. The band currently is still writing material on a regular basis, and is working on releasing their EP "Death Be Not Proud", produced by Highbryd and Vinny Ippolito. Show dates and gigs will be posted ASAP wen available. Through good and bad Highbryd has stuck together to bring raw metal-fusion to Chicago.
