Sucking on the tongue is NOT kissing on the cheek. Sorry Musa, but your explanation of the hadith being discussed has serious flaws.

To: GeorgeWhyte who posted a passage from the Muslim sources on Monday, July 14, 2008 9:50:57 PM GMT which read as follows:

Hadith Number 16245, Volume Title: "The Sayings of the Syrians," Chapter Title: "Hadith of Mu’awiya Ibn Abu Sufyan": "I saw the prophet – pbuh – sucking on the tongue or the lips of Al-Hassan son of Ali, may the prayers of Allah be upon him. For no tongue or lips that the prophet sucked on will be tormented (by hell fire).

Answer:

Hassan or rather Al hassan was the Grandson of Muhammed peace and blessings be up on him. "Sucking on his lips OR tongue" simply means kissing. So when you bring the passage forward and think about it logically you get. something like this; "I saw Muhammed kissing his Grandson (Hassan)". Remember that in certain parts of the world grown men still kiss each other to this day as a greeting or farewell gesture. Have you never met anybody who has kissed their grandson? I hope this explain the passage you have posted. I am sorry to take so long to get back to you. Might I encourage you to look further into issues in the future friend.

Peace be with you.
