Hailing from Los Angeles, JGeffen (neé Joseph) has always been a fan of Electronic Dance Music (EDM), and first began developing his eclectic taste in electronic music back in the 90s. Always the musician, he played multiple traditional instruments until college, when he started listening to trance, lounge, and house more frequently. He was then hired as the technical director for the Occidental College Programming Board, and began planning college-wide parties and studying acoustic design in his free time. As the demand for parties and high-quality DJs increased, he bought his first set of decks and dove headfirst into EDM.
Unfortunately, EDM was not a widely accepted form of music in the college crowd, and, in an effort to spread the word about these genres to his friends, he was given a time slot on KOXY, and hosted his own show ("The Joe Show"). As his technical skill and musical taste expanded, his club-themed parties began attracting audiences of 1000+ music lovers, who enjoyed his taste in house-infused hip-hop and top40 selections.
The result of all this madness is the friendly, humble, and well-rounded DJ that we've come to love. These days, Joseph continues to surprise his audiences by playing a variety of house and downtempo music on his radio show, Faderwave Afterhours, broadcast at Midnight EST/9pm PST every Sunday on Faderwave.net and simulcast on Stickam.com. He has played for several audiences at lounges across the metro Los Angeles area, including Neomeze in Pasadena. As a mobile DJ, Joseph works for Tsunamic Mobile DJs doing the occasional anniversary, birthday party, and high-school/college parties in the Los Angeles area and is available for hire. Finally, Joseph, who is always willing to offer advice and knowledge to his peers and fellow DJs, works as a conversation moderator for DJForums.com, the center of electronic music culture.
