I just saw the youtube video where blinski talks about the cow changing into the whale and how that process requires vast changes. This is true, but what I don't get is why is he calculating the total changes of a cow into a whale, since there must have been a split in the evolution of a species where one group lived near the ocean and the other group lived on land, thereby changing into the whale and cow, etc.. So blinski is comparing apples to oranges. Just saying, lol.

I HAVE read about Berlinski, that's why I know he is NOT a "credible source." As I said, he mis-represents evolutionary theory, he exaggerates. I know he's a leading critic -- but the Intelligent Design movement lacks any credibility. Evolution is a satisfactory explanation of biological change, the development of the eye, etc. In fact, it can be shown that the human body could have been designed BETTER -- it has many flaws; the "intelligent designer" was not so intelligent. I know he has a Ph.D... that doesn't mean he's right; "Argument from authority?." There are Ph.D level engineers who believe 9/11 was a "controlled demolition," etc. You can find an "expert" to support any wacky idea. Again, as I said, Science DOES deal with Metaphysics -- as best it can: first principles, first causes, ontology. Science has the humility to admit it cannot -- currently -- understand everything. Trying to fill in the unknown with an "Intelligent Creator" is not rational or supportable.

Yes, I later looked up the talk, it's in B.H. today. I doubt that either one of us is an expert on evolution. However, I know enough that there is SUBSTANTIAL evidence to support it. You -- probably by way of Berlinsk -- are vastly over-simplifying and distorting the discoveries of evolutionary biologists. "Science presupposes metaphysics, with out it there is no science." Um, so? Per the dictionary, Metaphysics is "the branch of philosophy that treats of first principles, includes ontology and cosmology, and is intimately connected with epistemology." So, yes -- science deals with metaphysics. What is the point?

I'm sure Richard Dawkins got a good laugh out of Berlinski TRYING to dispute evolution. Yes, honest evolutionary biologists admit there are some details they are uncertain about -- that's called SCIENCE. But that sure doesn't give one iota of evidence for some kind of supernatural "creator God." Wish I could have been there. Keep trying, jungy! ^_^
