When the weather is nice I like to take my dog out for a walk. The crows will alert you when there is a hawk present. Blue jays will usually join the chorus. I once was alerted to an abandoned feral kitten by a bird call. The kitten had some problems, but a friend of mine nursed him back to health. Every Christmas she sends me an updated cat photo.
