Daisy:
I am a daisy,
and you my dear, are a flame.
My delicacy turns to ash at a flash of your strength.
How I wish I were a river,
to be an equal contender.
I would flow to you and impress you with my rapids,
intimidate you with my depth.
But I can't change who I am,
just as you can't change our fate.
I tremble in the slightest breeze,
petal by petal, I begin to fall apart.
My frailty is too honest, too obvious,
my petals flush a bright pink as they fall to the ground.
Your tears, they sizzle against your rage,
and your steam can be seen for miles.
And as I begin to blacken and shrivel,
you slowly turn to embers--
Are we now one and the same?
Suddenly, I am picked by a fragile hand,
and I am free,
but I am already dead.
Your smoke begins to saunter,
as I am tossed to the wind--
May my soul be with you,
and forever carried by your smoke.
