The fame, the attention, the total lack of control. This was better than any fabricated high. Her dreams were intoxicating and contagious. As she stumbled up the stairs to her apartment the doorman wished her well. With a flash of her smile he understood. Baby hadn’t smiled that way in a long time. He shook his head as he imagined the lies a new man could’ve told her tonight. She was passed out next to her bed before he could find out if she was okay. She wouldn’t remember his affection when she woke. At least she couldn’t be too disappointed.
