Kool-Aid was the drink of choice. Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school. Class field trips. When Christmas was the most exciting time of year. Go back to the time when.... Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'. Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!' Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in 'Monopoly'. It wasn't odd to have two or three 'best' friends. Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better. It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the 'big kid' rides at the fair. When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever. When a candy bar at the grocery store was the highlight of your day. When stress was addition and subtraction. When shaving cream was just meant for play. When valentines day meant a box of 24 for all. When birthdays were a class event..? Do you remember when your close friend becomes your worst enemy. Your boy friend becomes a prick. Lollipops turn into cigarettes. The innocent ones turn into sluts. Home work goes in the trash. Mobile phones are being used in class. Detention becomes suspension. Soda becomes vodka. Bikes become cars. Undies turn into g-strings. Kisses turn into sex. Remember when getting high meant swinging on the playground? When protection meant wearing a helmet? When the worst things you could get from boys were cooties? Your parents were your heroes? Your worst enemies were your siblings. Race issues were about who ran the fastest. War was only a card game. The only drug you knew was cough medicine. Wearing a skirt didnt make you a skank... The only things that hurt you were skinned knees. and goodbyes only meant until tomorrow? And we couldnt wait to grow up...? "It's so hard to break the boundaries that society has put on us, but you have to. I know it's not hard to be scared about your future, you think you have to work non-stop so you can live when you're older. But fuck it. Your teenage years will be the best years of your life. So go live them. Road trips, making music, fucking girls, whatever. Just go do it. Don't waste your time now for the future. Because it may never happen, you may be killed tomorrow. I'm never going to live my life in the conventional form that is birth, school, college, work, marriage, the grave. Fuck that. That is what 'This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For' is about. That's what Bring Me the Horizon is about. Good times. 'Lets not change the subject - lets go chase the sunset, bring me the horizon' meaning stop putting shit off, get off the computer, and go make an unforgettable moment happen with your friends. Go get that feeling like when you're in a different country and the air is warm and you feel so different. We are all hypocrites. And yes. That does include you." -Oliver Sykes |
