LIL CRISE - biography
Born into a family of musicians I showed early signs of rhythm, I was able to bang out the rhythmic pattern of any song emanating from the radio on my feeding tray, As a matter of fact, the only reason I would cry was when the radio was turned off . I remember my dad would sit me down on his lap at some of his rehearsals, when his current gig was the drummer. He'd even make me play the hi-hats, while he was playing the pedals. Daddy would drive me crazy with music, but I’m glad he gave me lessons on all the instruments. It helps a lot when I do my new tracks. Being that we own a recording studio in the heart of Brooklyn , where artists are predominantly Rappers, I would ultimately fall under that blanket.
My Dad, when he finally considered the pro's and con's of the Biz, wanted initially to have someone write for me. Even though I told him I can do it myself, he went ahead and got a local hood star to write two songs for me. His name was Bells (aka J2 The R). The two songs, "4 The Block" & "Spitting It Right" ) were great and everyone was excited, but when I bought out my Rap Book/ book of rhymes that I had been secretly working on, I brought more me to the table, so the ghost writer wasn’t needed anymore. I would go on to write eight songs in total in three weeks. On the way to work one day, someone told my Dad that since I was so musical, he should put me on the " America 's Most Talented Kid" TV show. Well, we went, of course, to the audition, but a blue-eyed lil white kid that sang a country song beat me out (even though I rapped, played two songs on my steel drum(steel pan), danced, did splits… well you get the idea.
One day, a friend heard the songs I had written and said “Do four more songs and I’ll sell it in my beauty supply store across the street.” My Dad and I had nothing to lose, so we put 10 units in the store and within that day they were sold.
Sounds good right? Hang On. Just when they seemed to have found a way to distribute, the guy went BUST. He had to sell his store. When My Dad spoke to the guy, his response was "Yo, go sell the units ya self." My Dad at first thought the idea to be far-fetched. We took the eight-song CD to an agent, whose assistant said I was too young for the game and that there was no market for my type of rap (CLEAN) and that kids don’t buy albums, etc. I told them if Bow Wow and Romeo could do it, the world was ready for me. We took the album to the streets. I included my childhood school friends and some other “hood” stars on the recording.
The result was the TOY BOX, my first CD. It sold roughly 4000 copies. I’ve been on two syndicated rap shows (BET and BCAT) and have performed at New York ’s Harlem Week twice and performed in and around the tri-state area. I have been associated with And 1 Basketball Players and Lil Kim and countless other celebrities. I was under consideration for a special appearance at the NBA All-Star games. I have appeared on “Quite Frankly” (ESPN), The Lab, Wingate Park , Youth Fest, The Iguana Lounge in Manhattan , Take Two Club in Brooklyn, Chocolate Monkey in Brooklyn , The Sugar Factory, “The Flex Show” (cable TV), as well as other venues.
I released a second album called THE AGE OF WISDOM, which sold over 1000 copies in the first month.
I can be seen playing the steel pan. Look for me at:

Oh, did I mention that I had my own publishing company @ the tender age of twelve years old. I just turned 13 years old. I rap, sing and play the heck out of some drums. The new CD is on the way and THE LAVA, which is the new mixtape I produced, is on the streets now, along with the DVD - THE WAY OF LIFE , so get something from our indi company. It’s all love. I am now on itunes.
