High, I'm Allison, my friends call me Alli. I'm a carbon-based, NY born and raised life-form, married 20 years, no kids.
I grew up with the Hippies who lived on Easter Road in Chelsea, that's where I first met Pete Seeger when I was about 6, then Don McLean, Arlo, Dylan, etc. at various get-togethers over the years. Pete and Toshi's daughter, Mika, and her writer/director husband Emilio Rodriguez-Vazquez, were excellent inspirations for my creativity, as were Jimmy Collier and the Sweet Medicine Band, the Vanavers, so many "grounded to the Earth" people. There were always musicians around. I learned all the good things in life, how to play a thumb piano, throw pottery, hand-dip candles, weave on a huge loom, gardening, the importance of herbs and appreciation of nature and so much more.
I believe I was born singing, LOL. I'm vocally versatile and tend to keep it that way. I love so many styles, genres of music that it is impossible to keep me focused on just Folk, Classic Rock or Hair Band style tunes. I've sung with 18 piece orchestras, with Dizzy Gillespie, Papa John Creach, eh, too many to list and I'm not really about riding off someone else's name or fame. I'm just about singing and communicating musically with others.
Even when the shit is hitting the fan in many aspects of my life...I could never give up on music, although I have had to put it down and pick it back up a few times...it's my soul and a gift to me that nobody can take away, short of slitting my throat!
I do not invest my time in unhealthy relationships. I'm really not into judging others, but I do assess character in order to filter out the undesirables. I just don't play games or allow myself to be played, simple as that. I simply don't have time for it. I'm not a materialistic person, I have discovered that the more I give away, the more comes back to me, although I never expect it, it's just something I noticed..
I hide in music, it is my comfort, it helps me to feel what I want, when I want, how I want.

Music is my thing...maybe I will relax and try to have some fun here. Maybe find a few new friends who have some of the same mind-set...or hook-up with a musician or 12.

Hobbies:
I hand-pour 100% Soy Candles.
I own my own business and am getting that streamlined, up and running again. Maybe even hire a few local people if all goes well.
The music business is crazier than a regular job, it's a fair income when it's happening.

Favorite TV Shows:
PBS, National Geographic, TLC, DSC, Science Channels, but I don't really watch tv so much.
Favorite Music:
I'm a 78, 45, 33 1/3 RPM singer living in an iPod world, roflmfao!
Too Many Genres and Eras to cover for me to even indulge an answer on a 'favorite"...Maybe better to spill the stuff I don't dig...that list is so much shorter.
Music that turns me OFF: lyrically hateful music, most techno or trance, death metal, or stuff like that. Screws with my bio-rhythms, makes me wanna hurl, like I'm on speed or something (either that or they slipped me something at the club!) Hard, Morbid, Indecipherable Singing, not my cup of tea.
Favorite Books:
Mostly song lyrics and musician bios, but I also like to read Spiritual, Wiccan and New Age material, DIY home and auto repair manuals and pretty much anything I can get my hands on..Love to read.
I Love:
Music, dancing, animals, gardening, meditation, freedom, feeding the birds, talking with old people, my Eartha Kitty, my man. Not necessarily in that order, LOL...I love all humankind, there is only ONE race in my book, the HUMAN Race, who you partner with is your business, I love honesty and integrity....Love is all that matters, but without TRUTH, there is no trust, no trust means no love. Ooooh, and I LOVE COFFEE! My idea of a great time is a good cup of java, a big, fat hogleg and jamming with a few people.
I Hate:
I really don't hate anyone, I dislike and avoid people that irritate me. .Trying to transcend from the hate thing. My definition of love and what others perceive it to be is a shaky thing.
I avoid society in general (odd finding myself typing that as I am posting on the web for public consumption)
I keep my circle small, I find I have less problems that way. I just don't fit in to a materialistic, needy people, reality-show driven world.
