Bill, heard you talk about your laptop groundloop problem on ADHD. I had a similar problem with mine this last couple of weeks: I am using mine to record a friend's band straight from their stage mixer. I bought a Berenger Ultra DI-D120 stereo DI box to put between the mixer and my laptop to lift the groundloop. Getting rid of the earth connection on your laptop is not a good idea, it would only be there if the laptop you know, needs an earth connection :)
