hey John! I remember you. I'm doing alright. Lots going on in life. I'm on facebook if you'd like to add me, just let me know. Yeah, so I finally logged back on to stickam the other day after being off since January. That's why I didn't get to your post until now. I sure do miss the good ol glory days on stickam in 2007 when things were rockin! There were some mighty good discussions back in the day, eh? Sure wish we could all do something like that again every few months or so. The old rooms used to draw interesting characters and I sure did enjoy listening. I wasn't much of a talker but I enjoyed welcoming folks and making them feel at home. I really do miss the old crowd. God bless you, kind sir, for thinking of me. SUre hope you're doing well too!
It was harsh so i apologize but for the record, the room is not a debate room; there is a difference. You kinda came in toward the ass end of a very long and boring hour. so you did not know the positions of anyone in the room nor did you ask for them. it was me getting tired of having to repeat myself for people who would come in and want to join in a discussion that was nearing the end. and the room isn't there for ratings. drag or no drag, it will be there and if it were really getting to be a drag, explain why the room is full every night? this is just one person's opinion talking, not dogma.
(continued) I do not view God as angrily punishing people for all eternity, but rather we are punished by our own regret...in our own self inflicted mental torture (and of course all physical torture is actually mental) we punish ourselves in our own little self constructed prisons. If God is the Source for all that is good, then to be aware of being separated from Him with no remedy, for having scorned the remedy offered to us... will be so unspeakably bad that there will be weeping, gnashing of teeth, fiery torment, etc., but again I do not see it as God inflicting it so much as I see it as the natural consequence of what happens when we turn away from Him. God, through the Bible, is warning us. He warns us repeatedly throughout the bible, His love for us is so great, and when we see examples in the bible of Him becoming angry, it is the anger one has when he sees his child misbehaving. The parent loves his child so much that he desires his child to not go astray, and the anger is the logical emotional reaction. Real, true love can cause intense anger. If God were indifferent in regards to us, we would not see Him respond in this way. We serve a passionate God, who loves us intently. Anyway, thanks for listening. These are my 12:15am pizza and rootbeer kind of thoughts. :) I hope you'll make a vid about all of this. :)
Yeah for the past couple of days I've been wanting to explore the idea of hell as being a place of eternal regret. Obviously people will have regret in hell, but I view it as much more than them having regret, I view it as regret being essentially the main component of what hell actually is. I view hell as the ultimate mental torture; but I do not view it as a place where God inflicts pain on people because such a view, I believe, is inconsistent with what we know about God's loving character. People constantly ask christians how we can worship a God who sends people to hell. The answer, I believe, is in getting people to understand what occured during the Fall of Man, how the basic state of humanity changed, and how that God's Holiness prevents sinful man from entering His presence.
