| I’ve been caught sideways out here on this highway for a long time. Now I am trying to gain back the pieces of my soul I lost. It’s hard when the Devil won’t get off your back. It’s like I’ve been carrying him around in a hundred pound sack. Today, I am going to continue to walk this highway but with my head held up high, because I am going to leave this all behind. Today, I am going to get this Devil off my back. Skeletons and ghosts have been hiding in my shadows, consistently threatening my soul with all the things that they know. The choices and mistakes that have led me here, they all know my name. But I’m through holding in and holding on to all that shame. |
