I always enjoy listening to these shows even when I can't be there to participate in person. Sometimes I find myself yelling at the computer trying to interject something into the conversation when Sonny says something really off the wall! BTW...speaking of seeing demons in the smoke...here is a good site on pareidolia that talks alllll about seeing Satan's face in WTC smoke clouds or The Virgin Mary on a piece of toast.

Hey Kristi. I wasn't offended at all...just trying to make my opinion clear. Hey I agree that there are lots of things that are unexplained and, being an agnostic, I believe that we must always keep an open mind about. I certainly believe that there is more to the universe than what we see and that there are things we don't understand and may never understand about our own origins as human beings, or the origin of life in general. There is the whole subject of spirits, ghosts, demons, and such that I find fascinating, but can't be sure of what they really are. I think many things are products of our own brains and the whole idea of psychology and neuroscience plays a role there, which is something we still only barely understand scientifically. I think where people differ is how they interpret those things. Like I was saying, I wouldn't have spent so much time thinking about this stuff if I didn't think there was something worth thinking about. Where some people believe in "angels" I could just as easily call them "extraterrestrials" or whatever. The point being, that early people saw things around them they couldn't explain according to their understanding of the world so they described them as best as they could given their primitive worldview. To me, these are the stories that come down to us in the Bible. As science moves ever forward, we gain a better, clearer, and more rational explaination for some things (but maybe not everything). I don't want to turn this into Episode 4 (I'ld be happy to do it though!), but basically yeah there IS something more to the universe, be it spiritual, alien, or whatever. That is what really interests me and man, I really wish I could know for sure. But I guess that is why some people have faith, and the rest of us just keep seeking....

In no way was my comment directed toward any one individual. My point was that it is in my opinion, to believe that we are the only form of life in this universe is crazy. We all the the choice to believe in what ever we choose, not what we are told to believe. From my knowledge, no man or woman can say beyond a shadow of a doubt what happens to us when we die. So, what ever you do believe, believe with all of your being and have some faith in your own truth. My comment was not meant to offend anyone.

I consider myself very open-minded on a lot of different subjects. I have spent a good deal of time studying religion and its history in my quest for answers over the years. My feeling is that people want to believe that there is something more to the world than that we simply exist. People are terrified of the idea that when we die, that's it. They want desperately to believe that when we die, we go to a "better place" where we will learn the secrets of life and be reunited with our loved ones who have already passed on. This is basic human nature. But wishing something is true doesn't make it so. There may absolutely be something more to the universe than what we can see, touch, and taste, and I believe that there is much we do not understand and may never understand about the nature of life, the universe, and everything. I wouldn't have devoted so much time and energy to learning about these things if I didn't think there was something worthwhile in it. My opinion on the show is that science can explain things rationally using observable, tangible evidence instead of resorting to explaining the world through superstition and supernaturalism. As I said, there is nothing in evoltution that tries to disprove God or that says you can't accept the idea of biological evolution and still be a good Christian or Muslim or whatever. I know many people who are good Christians who also accept evolution as being true. But the evidence is there and it won't go away no matter how much it causes us to question some of the things the ancient sacred books say. I will agree with one thing, I don't think we will ever really understand how the universe was created because we are incapable of understanding. But my feeling is that you can't simply dismiss something that you don't like out-of-hand just because it disputes your cherished beliefs. That is the path toward being close-minded in my opinion.

You can not tell me that this is all that there is. To truly believe that this is all there is, in my opinion, that makes a person closed minded. We are all here for a reason, we are not an accident. If we were an accident, we not not be able to create life. Just think about that...
