I was born with CP it is caused by the lack of oxygen to the brain for an exceeded amount of
time, mine of course was due to birth. The doctor decided he wanted more sleep so when my
mother called he told her that he would fax the papers to the hospital, however when she
arrived there was no documentation to indicate who she was. As the nurses and doctors were
deciding on what to do with her I was coming out, so the process began. The nurses told my
mother that I was fine that everything was looking as though I was coming out normal.
About 10 to 15 minutes prior to birth I was deprived the oxygen, if the doctors had done a
c-section I would be up and walking by now. So my parents proceeded to sue the group of
doctors who caused the damage, you could say that I have the means to take care of myself
for the rest of my life if I'm careful. Along with Cerebral Palsy I also have Scoliosis, Scoliosis
is a curvature of the spine, which mine was very severe. As a result I have two steel rods fused
to my spine along with a history of about 13 operations.
I am not trying to say that my life is any different than anybody else's, however I will say that
it isn't at all that is cracked up to be. Luckily my condition did not take away my voice, but
it did physically take away some of my physical abilities. Most people with CP have a mental
disability along with it, however that does not mean that they don't have feelings because we
all do. As for the effects of CP it attacks the motor skills that someone can do some more
severe than others, severities have to do with how much oxygen the person was deprived.
There are three types of Cerebral Palsy, but at the moment I am not sure what they are. The
reason being is because they are hard to pronounce. Cerebral Palsy is only part of who I am,
so please feel free to ask.
